Encounter Critical

And now for something completely different...
I've been reading Jeff's Gameblog for awhile now and he has regularly mentioned a game called Encounter Critical .  Its available as a free pdf, and is set up as if it were a game designed in the '70's. When it first came out a couple of years ago some people actually thought it really was an old game from the late '70's early 80's that someone had rediscovered in a garage or somesuch.
Encounter Critical is first and foremost a "Kitchen Sink" kinda game! Everything is thrown in, stirred up a bit and then some more stuff is added. If you only play uber serious kinds of games this isn't for you.  If you need every rule locked down and clearly defined this game is not for you. If you don't ever mix genres then this game is NOT for you, BUT if you like the idea of having a party with a Mutant Elf Warlock, a Frankenstein Barbarian, and a Klengon Psi-Witch that have to steal a Damnation Van from some Planetary Apes, while avoiding the Crater Lake Monster then this game might be for you.

  1. I took a quick look at it. After running A Kringle in Time I've been looking at running Risus next and I'm trying to figure out a setting/plot/etc. to use. I might end up using EC as the setting, but using the rules from Risus...

They are working on a line of Sparks for EC. I know how you like to use Sparks!
