Mutant Moth!

Here's a quick non-gaming related post. This "beastie" was hanging out on the window screen of my house. Just had to take a quick picture and share.

Picture doesn't do it justice, you can see my reflection in the window to get an idea of size.  It was one of the largest and prettiest moths I've ever seen.

  4. Not yet Gyro, I've asked a friend of mine who knows more about bugs and critters than I do, waiting to hear back from him.

  5. Heard back from my buddy, he was jealous said this type of Moth is actually rare. It is a Luna Moth. Says its the most colorful of the Saturn Moth Family- Giant Silkworm moths.
    : ) Glad I snapped a picture.

  6. Amazing! And how great that you were able to snap a photo. Do you know if they're common in your neck of the woods?

  7. Thanks everyone.
I've gotten alot of folks emailing asking about it. Jay, I assume they are not common in my area, I've never seen one this big, and I'm a pretty outdoorsy kinda guy.

  8. What a neat find. Just a random encounter with one of nature's special rarities. I'd consider yourself suitably blessed by ol' mama nature to have run into it.
