Happy Simian Saturday!

As dated as some folks may claim, my favorite King Kong movie is still the classic original!  As a kid I wanted to be Ray Harryhausen when I grew up.  I spent many an hour with my Marx Dinosaur playset having my various gorilla toys battle it out in a prehistoric world.

I must admit I was a bit disappointed in the Peter Jackson remake, seemed to me that too much of the movie was about Jack Black's character, I did enjoy the Kong-T-Rex battle scenes however.
I hope your Simian Saturday is a good one!

  1. I know a lot of people don't like the new Kong, but I have to say I enjoyed it. Not as a remake of the original, but as a new take on the story.

I recently had a chance to watch the original Kong and found myself amused by the changes and noticing what did and did not find its way into Jackson's movie.

Love or hate, I think anyone can admit that then ew Kong is full of pure gamer fuel for pulp adventures.

  2. The classic original is my favorite but I do like the 2005 remake.

Given the disparate amount of character time in the too films, I don't know that Black's Denham gets anymore time (proportionally) than the guy in the original--and both are sort of (intentionally) obnoxonious characters.

The original's even more so in Son of Kong.
