The Dyn; A race of Femme Fatales for your Labyrinth Lord Campaigns

After reading the recent review on Grognardia about the Anomalous Subsurface Environment Megadungeon/mini-setting for Labyrinth Lord, I of course had to order it along with Jeff Rients Miscellaneum of Cinder (the two seemed like a great match), I dug out my Labyrinth Lord books and on a whim stat'd up this race.  Bear in mind I'm not a race as class kinda guy, I'm following the LL AEC process with races.
So without further ado I present...
The Dyn
Dyn

Requirements: DEX 9, CHA 9
Ability Modifiers: STR-1, DEX +1
Dyn are an attractive all female race of humanoids, with chalk white skin, jet black hair and red eyes. Some sages claim they are related to elves, but more likely they are a sub-race of humans. To reproduce they seek mates amongst humans, elves, and half-elves the offspring of such unions are always Dyn. Upon reaching their 11th birthday all Dyn join The Sisterhood a mysterious organization that indoctrinates these women into the arts of battle and seduction. The Sisterhood produces the world's most notorious femme fatales. It is during this time that they are also trained in the use of the Shivring the traditional weapon of The Sisterhood.
Special Abilities: Seduction- Dyn are trained extensively in the arts of seduction, when engaged in combat with a member of the opposite sex (or female of an alternate persuasion) her opponent may be distracted. If the Dyn has at least a full round of interaction (verbal interplay, striking provocative poses etc.) her foe must save versus spell or be at -2 to attack rolls while combating these vixens.

Shivring : damage: 1d6+1, can also be used as a ranged/thrown weapon, if the Dyn forgoes her attack for that round and opts instead to use the Shivring to parry, her AC is improved by -2 as long as she is parrying with her Shivring. Often the Dyn will parry with her opponent during initial combat round while distracting him with her feminine wiles, and then when he is suitably distracted she moves in for the kill. The Shivring is a difficult weapon to master, each Dyn feels a special attachment to her Shivring and if it is ever lost or stolen she is at -1 to all attacks until it is recovered or replaced.

Tellos to Labyrinth Lord (Frog Soldiers)

Frog Soldiers

"Athakk!"
No. Enc.: 10-80
Alignment: Chaotic
Movement: 60'/20' (+ can leap for 30'), swim 150'/50'
Armor Class: 7
Hit Dice: 1
Attacks: 1
Damage: 1d4 or Tongue lash up to 10' (1d2) or by weapon type
Special Attacks: Hop attack (see below), Tongue attack (1d2)
Save: F1
Morale: 7
Hoard Class: III
Special Abilities: Hop for 30' forward and 15' straight up, a Hop attack gives them +1 to hit and does double damage. Some Frog Soldiers have tried to use their tongues to grapple their foes or disarm them, this almost always leads to a negative outcome for the Frog Soldier.

Frog Soldiers are humanoid roughly man-sized frog men. They are usually equipped with leather armor and weapons of average quality (depending on their master and their mission). Frog Soldiers are often used as cannon fodder in the armies of evil overlords. Their low intelligence precludes them from engaging in missions requiring any sort of critical thinking and they often even bungle the simplest of missions. They tend to rely on sheer numbers to get the job done. However, this tactic can be disruptive as the Frog Soldiers often get in each other's way or interfere with the actions of other allied forces. Tactics is not their strong point.
Dragons consider Frog Soldiers to be quite tasty, and many a Frog Soldier unit has been routed at just the thought of a nearby Dragon on the loose!

In the Tellos comic series the Frog Soldiers were often more for comic relief than a real threat to the heroes.

*Update* 4/26/10 Upon reflection and a bit of playtesting I believe the double damage hop attack is a bit much for what the beasties are intended to be. Instead for a Hop Attack, I think I'd give them a +1 to hit and +2 to damage. I'll leave the original info in place for those who want to have a little more "oomph" in your frog soldier encounters. -B

Tellos (Ideas for Labyrinth Lord)

I recently did a post about the cool comic series Tellos.  I think the series offers great ideas for a Labyrinth Lord game, especially if your running a campaign with some young folks in it, but it will work for old grognards as well.
Last night I  think a bit of Tellos visited my neck of the woods in the real world.  It stormed so bad I thought an ogre was beating on the roof of the house with a club. In Tellos there is a land referred to as Torrent, a perpetual wandering land of storms.  The heroes in the comic had to journey through the land of Torrent it was a soggy experience to say the least. Apparently Torrent came through my neighborhood last night.

TORRENT

Land of a thousand storms! It is an Enigma, this place…A wandering expanse of geography, a realm of constant deluge that mysteriously travels about the face of the world, without rhyme or reason…!

Tellos

I stopped by my Friendly Local Comic Shop on the way home from work yesterday. I didn't see much that interested me on the current release shelves, but the owner had put some stuff on the bargain rack that I hadn't noticed the last time I was there. Of particular interest was this one...
A compilation of the Tellos comic series.  If your not familiar with this one you may want to keep your eyes peeled for it.  This is not a Savage Sword and Sorcery resource by any means and it is a bit "cartoony" but that's part of the appeal of it at least to me.  I've been reading about some of my fellow bloggers running adventures for their kids.  Tellos is prime campaign material to use for games with your youngsters.  Airships, Floating cities, Frog Soldiers, Fox thieves, Turtle Wizards, cool stuff. I had a few of the original comics for it back in the day and even converted some items from it for my 3.0 Campaign. The comic does have some serious themes, and some of the characters do get injured and even die. If I get time (yeah right) I may stat up some of the critters found in it for Labyrinth Lord.
