I backed a couple of Sci Fi RPG Kickstarters recently, the PDF's for them arrived in my inbox just a few days ago. While they are different systems (Rag-Tag is a rules lite take on the Fragged Empire RPG, and Thirteen Parsecs is an OSResque system), I find myself wanting to combine elements of the two together...we shall see. So far, I've been too busy with work and family stuff to dive into them, but soon! Very soon!

Che (Roleplay Rescue podcast) just had a great episode on how the modern generation of gaming changed the hobby from a hobbyist kitbash community to a for-profit community. One of the points he draws is that people back in the early days kitbashed stuff from this book, that book, the book over there, and created cool and interesting game systems and settings. Go for it! Make something for YOU to play!
ReplyDeleteGreat point Matt, back in the day (very early 80's) I kitbashed the heck out of everything!
DeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteDo you have an email? I was wondering if I could ask you some questions. My father was SpiderTrag, and you also knew his friend Tormentor who I'm trying to get a hold of, but his old email is dead. There's more extended explanation, but it's a lot to dump here. Hope to hear from you.
Hello! Yes, I knew him (not in person but online) brutorzbill at gmail.com
DeleteI hope my old email isn't dead. Tormentor at Comcast Dot Net. We may have gone back so far that it was home.com before Comcast bought them, but the first part has always just been a simple "tormentor". The past is blurry when you get old. And same as Brutorz...never met SpiderTrag in person, but a ton of email back and forth. Chat stuff existed back in those days, but not as widespread as today, and I seem to recall it was way before video conferencing was practical for mere mortals.
