Here's a bit of a different Simian Saturday post, long time readers will know I'm a Lego fan, I just recently found out about this little guy on the net.
Kind of a neat looking little mini fig, course I'd lose the banana and replace it with some BrickArms guns and such!

Black Friday/Cyber Monday Sales!
I do my best to avoid going outside of the house on Black Friday, although my wife did "force" me to go to Old Time Pottery today...which turned into a "quick" trip to Garden Ridge which...well you get the idea.
But thanks to the wonderful world of the internet I can do my personal shopping at home! Woo Hoo!
In reading my buddy Tommy's blog The Most Unread Blog on the Internet. Ever. I learned of some great sales in the pdf gaming world!
I've been eyeing Interface Zero for Savage Worlds for awhile now, and at the bargain price of $8 I picked it up, not too mention several other pdfs for $1 a piece, including Silver Gryphon Games' Wellstone City line, looks like a really cool Gritty Urban Locale that I can tweak for my own dastardly purposes (right now I'm thinking of tweaking it to use as the main locale for a possible Interface Zero Campaign). I grabbed the Icons Super Hero RPG rules too, not sure about Fate based supers, but it was only a BUCK!
I'm still an old fashioned book in hand sort of guy but I figure I can check out the pdfs for a great price and the ones that really float my boat I'll pick up in print at some point.
Well gotta run, have alot of reading to do!! *insert maniacal laughter here*

"Maybe One Day"
I found this on the net yesterday, a "What If" drawing by Stefano Pavan, illustrating the question,"“What if Kamandi met Captain Victory and the Galactic Rangers?”.
Is this amazingly cool or what?
I've talked about Kamandi before on my blog a truly classic Jack Kirby comic. Captain Victory is another Kirby comic from the early 80's. Merge the two and I think I've found the Campaign I've been looking for!
Mwha ha ha!!!

Friends of Starship Warden
While other sites have mentioned this, I'd be remiss if I didn't cover it as well. Those who know me, know that I cut my gaming teeth not on D&D, but instead on Gamma World. That was the first RPG I ever ran, and it has always had a special place in my gamer heart. Heck my on-line handle since the 90's has been Brutorz Bill in tribute to my first Gamma World character and my love for the game. Sadly the original brilliant mind behind the first edition of that game; Jim Ward is quite ill. A website has been set up Friends of the Starship Warden offering a way for those who can help to do so.
Thanks for reading,
Brutorz Bill

The Empire Strikes Back "1950's Style"
Still feeling blah, wife won't let me go back to work. Fever Smever...
Anyways, after Sunday's off the cuff Mutant Future game, the guys said they'd like to maybe play something Sci Fi. Battling the Kevlar Armored Goatlord with his Laser Pistol really sparked their interest in guns and such. I'll admit I've been on a bit of a Sci Fi kick of late myself. I may have to look into Mongoose Traveller a bit more. Meanwhile here's a little something I stumbled across on the 'net.

Pardon my Rant
Pardon my little rant here for a bit. I think, well actually I know for a fact, my least favorite part of DMing is the management/politics. You know what I'm talking about... the coordinating of schedules, the behind the scenes emails, listening to folks who have issues with another player or your choice of miniatures etc... As you all know I've been running, or trying to run a Labyrinth Lord game, well folks understandably have lives and schedules so we haven't been able to meet that regularly. I tried to make sure we had enough players to play. So I put out a recruitment poster. Does that say anything about this being a 3.5 game??? Apparently to some folks it does, or at least they decided it would become that if they sent me enough emails about it, or whined enough about this not being 3.5, or that they were doing me some kind of favor by playing "my" game even though it wasn't 3.5...
I apparently should have also added that the game didn't mean for you to bring your small children either. I'm all for folks playing with their kids, and involving them with their hobby, I game with my family as well on occassion. BUT my intentions were for this game to have some mature content not really appropriate for youngsters, nothing bad, but just not gentle either. Wouldn't you ask before you just up and decided to bring your kid(s)? Hmmmm maybe I'm just the grouchy old man yelling at kids to get off of my lawn??
Anyways, I admittedly get aggravated by this kind of the thing and in the past have just "taken my toys and gone home" maybe the problem is me. Maybe trying to run a regular long term campaign that meets consistently and frequently is just not where my life is right now. Our last session ended with the players in a tight spot in the middle of a dungeon, we are down a core player and some of the others can't make it or aren't coming, for reasons stated above. I emailed the guys, the core ones I have and based on their feedback we've decided to play Mutant Future today.
Now I know why so many of my old gamer friends have shifted to Board Games.
Rant Off...

Memphis Comic & Fantasy Convention
The wife and I spent the afternoon at the Memphis Comic & Fantasy Convention.
This was the Con's debut. We had a nice time. I hope to see it continue to grow and expand in years to come. There wasn't alot of gaming going on, but it was still fun, as an added bonuse there was a full BrickArms vendor present, so of course I had to pick up some new BrickArms weapons and such.. I even ran into some folks I work with, but didn't know that they were gamers, so I may have some additional gaming opportunities in the future, as a result. All in all a fun time.

Simian Saturday : King Kong vs. Frankenstein!
Well it's Simian Saturday once again, Clovis Cithog has already emailed for my lateness in posting today. CC thanks for keep me straight! : )
Anyways I recently came across an article regarding unmade movie classics. And one in particular really caught my eye! King Kong vs. Frankenstein
King Kong's creator, famed animator Willis O'Brien, conceived a script (in the 1960s) that he called "King Kong vs Frankenstein", planned second "sequel" to his original 1933 film. It was never made, though in the end, as "King Kong vs Prometheus", it was sold to Toho Studios in Japan, who re-conceived the project as Kingu Kongu tai Gojira [King Kong vs Godzilla] (1962; dir. Ishiro Honda) -- and then again, sans Kong, as Furankenshutain tai chitei kaiju Baragon [Frankenstein vs the Subterranean Monster Baragon] (1965; dir. Ishiro Honda) aka Frankenstein Conquers the World (US, 1966).
Shame it was never made, the original King Kong is one of my favorite movies ever!
Have a happy Simian Saturday, the wife and I are off to a comic book convention! Woo Hoo!
