These giant mutant ostriches are fearsome ravenous beasts that roam the wastelands and badlands always searching for food. They are usually solitary, but if food is plentiful enough a small group will occasionally gather together at least until the food runs out. There are reports of humanoid villages being wiped out by the voracious appetites of larger groups of Ostragnons. Some primitive tribes have attempted to domesticate and use the beasts as large mounts, this has had mixed results, usually ending up with the Ostragnon getting hungry and eating it's would be rider(s).
Is anyone compiling all these gems?
ReplyDeleteHadn't really thought about it Mik.
ReplyDeleteJust been having fun churning this stuff out.
I hope you guys are able to find some use for them in your games.
Thanks for the compliments!
I play other game systems but since they are in Dungeonland right now and I need 13 beasts to put in the magical pool I think I will be pulling several of these and converting them! Great stuff!
ReplyDeleteNice one! There's something scary about big carnivorous land-based avians in a post apocalypse game. I also find your naming convention of your critters using word verification items very innovative! Keep them coming... I agree with Mik, these gems have to be compiled!
ReplyDeleteI am a personal fan of megabirds. Being one of those dinosaur kids these have become my new favorite prehistoric interest. This creature captures that feel nicely.

Thanks again guys! Eli should get full credit for the naming convention idea.
ReplyDeleteArmchair General please use them however you want to, let me know how they do!
Eli I was a "dinosaur kid" too, must be our generation
Yeah someone (we?) should compile these into a PDF sometime a la Mutant Manual II.
ReplyDeleteIn case you weren't already aware Cassowary can be vicious birds if you try to wind them up:
